volunteering and jobs | Vocational co-workers

VOCATIONAL co-workers who join our communities usually do so from an interest and enthusiasm for our shared way of life and from a desire to work with our common beliefs. With a long-term commitment, you will live in one of our communities, share in its activities and share responsibility for its day to day operation.
You may bring qualifications and skills which are of value to the community or a willingness to take part in training and education programmes. The regulatory authorities who oversee the care and welfare fields in which we are involved increasingly require people to have relevant qualifications.

Single people and families

We welcome single people and families, and you will normally have responsibility for one of our community houses where you will share life with community members with special needs with the assistance of guest volunteers. In addition you will probably have responsibilities in other areas such as a craft workshop, farm, market garden, food production or retail enterprise, administration or the social, therapeutic or cultural aspects of community life.

Meeting your needs

Our vocational co-workers treat their work not as a job, but as a way of life. So there are no set hours but everyone gets time for themselves. Holidays are important too, for time with the family and to relax and recharge.
Our vocational co-workers do not receive a salary or pension scheme. However, your needs, and those of your family are met from community resources. So you will have a comfortable home and all you need. We also make provision for the time when our co-workers retire or when life circumstances change.
